Essential professional development for current or aspiring government relations practitioners.
This six-part course (delivered over 8 weeks) provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively advocate for their organisation and navigate the complex landscape of government relations. Participants will gain a deep understanding of advocacy strategies, policy development, stakeholder engagement, working within a commercial organisation & effective communication technique to influence public policy and achieve organisational outcomes. Through practical case studies, interactive discussions, and expert guidance, this course equips participants with the tools they need to become successful internal and external advocates and engage with government stakeholders.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Recognise the significance of government relations and advocacy for commercial entities and understand the role of key stakeholders.
2. Develop effective advocacy strategies that align with organisational objectives and leverage tools to support their efforts.
3. Learn techniques to influence policies affecting your industry and present them convincingly to external stakeholders.
4. Build and maintain relationships with government officials and other relevant stakeholders to advance your advocacy goals.
5. Integrate advocacy efforts within the organisational structure and effectively communicate priorities to internal stakeholders.
6. Utilise persuasive communication techniques, storytelling, and various communication channels to influence public policy effectively.
Who is this course for?
Do you work in Corporate Affairs in a commercial entity but have more of a background in media or comms? Are you new to government relations within a commercial environment and working out how to navigate and apply your skills in a large, complex organisation? Are you a senior exec with government relations under your remit and seeking how to leverage this team more effectively? This course will equip you with the tools and confidence in government relations strategies, relationship building with government officials, and achieve organisation advocacy goals while taking internal stakeholders on the journey.
Each cohort is capped at a maximum of 5 participants to ensure good quality discussions in the coaching circle.
