Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Delta Advisory, government relations and how we work with clients.
What does Delta Advisory do?
Delta Advisory is a non-partisan government relations and strategic communications consultancy with offices in Canberra and Sydney. We help businesses and not-for-profits navigate policy and regulation, build relationships with decision-makers and shape the public narrative on their issues, through government relations and advocacy, strategic communications, events management and training.
What does a government relations consultant do?
A government relations consultant helps an organisation engage effectively with government. That includes mapping the ministers, advisers, departments and parliamentarians who influence an issue, developing an advocacy strategy, preparing submissions and briefing material, arranging and preparing for meetings, and advising on timing and political context. Delta Advisory pairs this "inside game" with the "outside game" of media and public communications.
Is Delta Advisory a registered lobbyist?
Yes. Delta Advisory Pty Limited is listed on the Australian Government Register of Lobbyists and on the New South Wales, Victorian, Queensland, South Australian, Western Australian, Tasmanian and ACT registers of lobbyists. The Northern Territory does not maintain a register of lobbyists or third-party representatives.
Is Delta Advisory aligned with a political party?
Delta Advisory is non-partisan. Our advice is independent of any party, and strategy-led rather than access-led.
What's Delta's ethical approach to its engagements with clients?
At Delta, we pride ourselves on delivering meaningful results and impact for our clients. What drives us in this ambition are four core values: client-focused; respect; collaboration; and results-driven. Delta is also a signatory to the voluntary Australian Professional Government Relations Association (APGRA) Code.
Who does Delta Advisory work with?
We work with businesses, including ASX100 companies, as well as industry bodies and not-for-profits, across sectors including financial services, technology, tourism, telecommunications, health, environment, energy, transport and infrastructure, The Arts, International relations and diplomacy and patient organisations.
Where is Delta Advisory based?
We have offices in Canberra (Level 1, The Realm, 18 National Circuit, Barton ACT 2600), Sydney (Suite 3C, 215 Clarence Street, Sydney NSW 2000), and Melbourne (Level 11, 456 Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC 3000) and work with clients across Australia.
Can Delta Advisory run events at Parliament House?
Yes. Our in-house events team delivers parliamentary breakfasts and briefings, report launches, policy dialogues, member forums, press conferences and dinners at Parliament House and other venues, handling strategy, invitations, VIP and speaker liaison, protocol, logistics and post-event follow-up.
Do you offer government relations training?
Yes. We run a six-module Business Training Course for corporate affairs professionals and executives (limited to five participants), an NFP Training Course for not-for-profits, and bespoke training designed around an organisation's specific advocacy challenges.
